Art Overview

Term 1: Mock Examination- Initial ideas and Development

Through the choice of themes, students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of areas and make a personal decision about which are of study they would like to make artwork about. Students are encouraged to explore ideas and concepts of interest to them.

They will discuss and share ideas; thus gaining a greater understanding of themselves as well as the people and the world around them.

  1. Students will receive regular feedback through verbal discussion, peer assessment and target setting within lessons.

    Written feedback will also be provided by peers and teaching staff where appropriate to support progress and reporting.

externally set assignment

This is the exam unit of the GCSE, the remaining 40% of the course. Students will be issued with an exam paper which they will choose one theme from to create a body of work and a final piece in the 10 hour examination.

preparatory period

this is the time leading up to the exam where students create artwork and research to prepare for the final exam.
