TERM 1: Woyzeck, Comp 3 section C

To understand how to approach the text as a theatre maker.

Discussion to identify key aspects of the text.

Workshop to explore the text in practice.

Practical exploration of the text.

To understand how theatre makers re-imagine work.

Students use a case study of a practitioner (BRECHT) to see how they have re-imagined work.

Practitioner (Brecht) study.

TERM 2: Comp 3 and Comp 2

Working in small groups, students take an extract from a performance text and explore how to re-imagine the scene for a contemporary audience.

Students develop ideas and refine the re-imagined concept.

THEATRE VISIT AND REVIEW

The ability to consider relevant aspects of theatre for analysis and evaluation purposes.

To reflect on own experience as an audience member.

To understand the processes and practices used in the production.

Students revisit and refine the groups’ theatre review form.

COMP 2 – GROUP/MONOLOGUE PERFORMANCE

Students issued with their practical performance pieces to learn.

  1. Exam styles questions: Students will be assessed on their knowledge and understanding of Woyzeck and Brecht. Students will answer a 24 mark question.

COMP 2 – GROUP/MONOLOGUE PERFORMANCE

To understand creative intentions of the play text in performance.

Exploration and rehearsal of monologues/duologues and group performance.

Performance to external examiner Febuary/March.

Live theatre, ‘That Face’ and ‘Woyzeck.’ They will answer a 22 mark question in section A (Live Theatre) two 18 mark questions in section B (That Face) and a 24 mark question in section C (Woyzeck.)
