Our Uniform Vision
Rooted in Our Christian Ethos At Becket Keys, our approach to uniform is grounded in the Christian virtues we seek to cultivate in every student: Respect, Responsibility, Trustworthiness and Fairness. These values shape not only how students speak and act, but also how they present themselves each day.
As Scripture reminds us: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” (Colossians 3:23) Wearing the uniform well is one small but significant way our students show commitment, character, and readiness to serve.
Government Guidance & Our Approach Recent government guidance limits the number of items schools can compel families to purchase from a specialist supplier. At Becket Keys, we fully comply with this guidance and keep compulsory items to a minimum. Compulsory items are marked below with an asterisk (*).
However, we also believe that consistency of uniform is vital for fostering equality, pride and a strong sense of belonging. For this reason, we encourage families to purchase uniform from our approved school shop or from the excellent second-hand stall run by Friends of Becket Keys. This supports high standards across the school and offers affordable, sustainable options for every family.
Our uniform reflects who we are as a school community — one that values high standards, equality, and belonging. We expect students to present themselves with pride, ready to learn and ready to contribute positively to school life.
Core Principles
-
Fairness: A consistent uniform ensures all students are treated fairly and removes unnecessary distractions.
-
Respect: Wearing the uniform well shows pride in being part of our school.
-
Responsibility: Smart, comfortable clothing helps students approach each day with focus and purpose.

Details
We believe that good standards of dress promote a positive attitude to work and behaviour and identify students to local residents and future employers. We have worked hard to create a uniform that is distinctive and smart. The co-operation of all parents/carers is requested to ensure that students are in correct uniform to and from school as well as during normal school hours.
Please note that Becket Keys makes the final decision as to what is or is not acceptable in all aspects of a student's appearance.

All clothing should be named. We expect students and parents to apply common sense to any items that they might bring to school, and we publish a list of banned items.
We list our uniform for boys and girls in the same way that shops organise their clothes into menswear and womenswear. This is to support students in choosing clothing items that are best suited to the physical attributes of their sex. Families may contact us to discuss uniform at any time or speak to our supplier.
We regularly run nearly new uniform shops which help families with the cost of uniform. We also have a Governor's Hardship Fund which families can access. They can simply write to Mr Scott-Evans who will confidentially deal with their request for assistance. Please include as much detail as possible in the request, Mr Scott-Evans will then sensitively support families (anonymously) with the Governors.
