Becket Keys Highest Ebacc Scores Ever 

Colossians 3:23-24: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Becket Keys Church of England School is celebrating yet another set of excellent GCSE results. Students in the 2024 cohort have achieved the strongest Ebacc results the school has ever seen with more students entering the Ebacc and passing it convincingly than ever before. The average point score for students sitting the Ebacc this year is the highest the school has ever achieved. 

There are a number of individual success stories that result from notably high performance (some of which are reported below). A third of all grades achieved are 7 or above and one in five students will have opened their envelope to find a Grade 9! This “rare grade” (achieved by only 3% of students nationally in each subject) demonstrates performance above that of the old A*.

Two of our top performing students were Ruth Pennant with ten Grade 9s, and Elizabeth Thompson with nine Grade 9s, one Grade 8. 

Ruth will be staying at Becket Keys to study Spanish, History and Mathematics.

Elizabeth will be staying at Becket Keys to study Psychology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

Kian Muwenda and Amabelle Trinder also performed at a very similar level with nine Grade 9s and one Grade 7. 

Kian will be staying at our Sixth Form to study Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Chemistry. 

Amabelle will be staying with Becket Keys to study Psychology, History, Mandarin and Chemistry. 

Olivia Banfield achieved seven Grade 9s and three Grade 8s and will be studying History, Mandarin and Mathematics at Becket Keys Sixth Form. 

Other notable performances came from Rebecca Stewart (5 Grade 9s), Alex Chapman (5 Grade 9s) and George Ashton (4 Grade 9s).

• Alex will be staying at Becket Keys to study Spanish, Business Studies, and Mathematics. 
• Rebecca will be staying at Becket Keys to study Spanish, Mathematics and Chemistry.
• George will be staying at Becket Keys to study Mathematics, Biology and PE. 

Max Sanderson had a personal P8 score of 3.3 (the highest progress of any student in the school).  Max achieved two Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, two Grade 7s and three Grade 6s. Max’s Key Stage 2 scores were 101. Max will be staying at Becket Keys to study Psychology, History and PE. Max also won a silver medal in the English National Athletics Championships this summer in the 3000m! A great summer for Max!
